Butterfish

Pomfret, or butterfish, is delicious and is healthy when baked in the oven or steamed. Garlic and lemon are used in this butterfish recipe to really bring out the fish flavor, since butterfish is mild in taste. The sauce is made by combining all the ingredients and coating the fish with them, and then it is simply baked and ready to serve. This is one of the most easy fish recipes ever.

Butterfish is light in flavor so this mild sauce is the perfect accompaniment. Baked lemon garlic butter fish is nice served with rice or mashed potatoes and perhaps also some colorful vegetables such as broccoli, carrot, or green beans. A grassy, clean Sauvignon Blanc is good with this dish, as is a buttery, fruity Chardonnay. You might not be able to get pomfret locally, in which case feel free to switch it for cod, hake, plaice, tilapia or another white fish. The resulting dish will be equally impressive.

Use thawed or fresh fish for this dish. Since you are going to bake it in a sauce it will not make a lot of different but, if you are using thawed fish, make sure you rinse it and pat it dry with paper towels before you start making the recipe.
